Home Generators
Home Generator systems can greatly increase your families sense
of security. A Standby Generator can be set up to control
select cicuits such as refrigerators, lights, pumps, and alarm
systems. With a large enough system (typically a 20kW for a
home having a 200 amp service), you can provide power to all items!
Choosing a Generator System
All Home Generators and Standby Power generators have the same
thing in common. There is a gas powered (LP, Natural gas, or
Diesel) engine that drives a Generator. There are several
things to bear in mind when choosing a system
Things to Consider
- What circuits do you want to power? If your Air
Conditioning system is going to be powered, you will need to use
a system capable of Starting the AC Unit at its Rated LRA
(Locked Rotor Amps). The start up can consume a large
portion of the Generators Startup capabilities. Most other
circuits require little power, and can be added to most Home
Generators or Standby Generators without much consequence.
- Fuel Consumption. We know that Liquid Propane
Generators can consume a considerable amount of fuel.
Remeber to make your decision based on having to refuel the
tank. On Natural Gas, the cost is cheaper, but there will
be a moderate cost if your Generator is running constantly.
- Foot Print. Where do you want the Generator installed?
Remember, you need to keep all debris and plants cleared from
around the generator for safety reasons, as well as mechanical
reasons. A Technician needs to be able to access the
Generator for Normal Service.
A Home Generator System will provide security, piece of mind, and
comfort when you want it most!
